Sansevieria trifasciata zeylanica – HydroCare
The HydroCare version of Sansevieria zeylanica is a tough, hardy snake plant. The long sword-like leaves are dark green with wavy lighter green bands. They have rather a rugged, shabby-chic appearance often with rough, brown edges. Some minor leaf cracking is also common.
Sansevieria zeylanica are not as common as Sansevieria trifasciata, but they are just as bullet-proof and just as stunning. Easy care, shade loving, hard to kill, air-purifying… these beautiful plants have it all.

Horty Hints
Shabby but fabby! Scarring can occur on your zeylanica’s leaves, this is completely normal and adds to its stunning shabby-chic appearance.
Shady spots sorted! The zeylanica can adapt to lower light conditions making it an ideal addition to those not-so-sunny locations.
Squeaky clean! Make sure to wipe the stems of your zeylanica regularly to remove any dust and help maximise its air purifying powers.
Light
Sansevieria zeylanica does best in locations which receive moderate to bright, indirect light, but will adapt to low light conditions too.
Watering
Keep an eye on the water meter. Water when the meter has been on minimum for 14 to 21 days. Check out our HydroCare set up guide for more information.
Temperature
This Snake Plant will be happy in temperatures between 15°C and 23°C. It can also tolerate temperatures as low as 10°C for short periods.
Humidity
The zeylanica thrives in normal household humidity. Avoid humid locations but if brown tips develop, consider occasional misting.
Feed
Add a Hydroculture liquid feed every 2 to 3 waterings during the spring and summer months.
Height & Growth Rate
Sansevieria zeylanica is a slow-growing plant which typically reaches an ultimate height of around 75cm to 1 metre.

Sansevieria are mildly toxic if eaten. Keep away from children and animals. Do not consume.
