Sansevieria trifasciata Metallica – Snake Plant Care & Info Guide
Horty Hints
Drier than the Sahara Desert? Not a problem for the Metallica as they are drought tolerant! Allow the soil to dry out in between watering to avoid root rot.
Time for a trim? If your Metallica has experienced some additional scarring or damage to one or two leaves, you can slice the leaf back into its beautiful pointed shape using a sharp, sterilised blade.
Squeaky clean! Make sure to wipe the stems of your Metallica regularly to remove any dust and help maximise its air purifying powers.
Light
Sansevieria trifasciata Metallica is a relatively hardy plant which enjoys conditions from full sun to light shade and is also able to adapt to low light conditions if preferred, though be aware this may affect growth rate and saturation of the leaves.
Watering
This plant has adapted to a dry climate so can withstand periods of drought. Allow the soil to dry out completely before watering, then water thoroughly and allow to drain freely. Do not allow the plant to sit in water as this will cause root rot. Water even less in the winter.
Temperature
The Metallica Snake Plant will be happy in temperatures between 15°C and 23°C. It can also tolerate temperatures as low as 10°C (but no lower) for short periods.
Humidity
The Metallica snake plant thrives in normal household humidity. Avoid humid locations but if brown tips develop, consider occasional misting.
Feed
Apply a weak dose of cactus or general purpose feed once a month at most during the growing season. Sansevieria are low maintenance plants and don’t need a lot of food.
Height & Growth Rate
The Metallica Snake Plant is a slow-grower and typically reaches an ultimate height of 30cm to 1.2 metres.
Please note: each plant is unique so available heights are approximate and the plant you receive may vary by ±10%.
Toxicity
Sansevieria are mildly toxic if eaten. Keep away from children and animals. Do not consume.
