Dracaena fragrans Burley – HydroCare
A great looking Dracaena with lovely long and wide, deep green leaves with a central bright yellow-green band giving a neat striped appearance. Its leaf colour and variegation resemble that of Dracaena Cintho, however, this is a smaller and more wide-spreading option.
The HydroCare version of Dracaena Burley is incredibly easy to care for as a tough and resilient species that will tolerate light shade and cooler temperatures. Best displayed on a large table or in a tall, thin planter, where its spreading nature makes it ideal for filling a large space. It is also a great plant for removing toxins from the air.
Dracaena fragrans Burley Care & Info Guide
Horty Hints
Beware the blotching! Yellow and brown blotches on the broad leaves? The plant has been too dry and hot. Refresh regularly and relocate somewhere more humid.
Feeling the chill! These warm climate plants are susceptible to temperatures of 12°C or lower. Leaves will curl and can dry-up and die.
Can’t handle the Heat! These plants look like they like direct light, however too much sun will cause leaf streaking and eventually burning. Remove damage and remedy with some shade.
Light
Dracaena Burley prefers moderate to bright indirect light, however avoid direct sunlight. Ideal for office interiors with fluorescent lighting. If kept in low light conditions reduce watering to prevent root rot.
Watering
Aloow an extended “dry period” for Dracaena. Water when the meter has been on minimum for 7 to 10 days, allowing the roots to dry out completely.
Temperature
The Burley thrives in average household temperatures: between 16-24°C but can cope with as low as 12°C for short periods.
Humidity
Dracaena are hardy houseplants and will do well in normal room humidity, however, they do prefer higher humidity and will benefit from occasional misting.
Feed
Add a Hydroculture liquid feed every 2 to 3 waterings during the spring and summer months.
Height & Growth Rate
Fragrans Burley is a slow-growing plant which typically reaches a height of 1 to 1.5 metres once fully grown.
Please note: each plant is unique so available heights are approximate and the plant you receive may vary by ±10%.
